I’m so glad you’re here! You have discovered the new and improved Sidewalk Safari travel site. I’m currently in the process of moving my decade old site from Blogger to WordPress to make it easier and faster for you to find what you are looking for.

Join the Part-Time Travel Movement

Sidewalk Safari has been all about part-time travel since 2008. What is part-time travel? It’s a style of traveling where a full-time career unlocks travel opportunities you never could have dreamed of alone.

You’ll find travel stories and advice that aim to inspire you to make the most of a “day job” to live a life full of travel. I only write about trips that I’ve personally taken and things that I’ve personally done on those trips.

Part-Time Travel Genres

Part-time travel comes in many different guises.

  • Bleisure: includes travel centered around a business trip and at least partially paid for by a “day job”. Plan a day trip, weekend add-on, or a longer adventure.
  • Workcations: travel that doesn’t have a business reason but where we work from our destination.
  • Expat Life: Read about trips we took as a result of moving outside of the United States. This includes posts about our adopted cities (Dublin and Lisbon) and trips we likely wouldn’t have taken if we hadn’t moved abroad.
  • Vacations: This includes travel to far-flung destinations that we would have taken whether we lived in the U.S. or elsewhere. These are trips we took using a chunk of paid time off.
  • Sabbaticals: Trips that involve a longer paid or unpaid leave from work.
